  • Traditional settings are group-driven. Montessori is child-driven — with lessons, materials, and routines intentionally tailored to each child’s unique needs.

  • Montessori classrooms are intentionally mixed-age and organized in three-year cycles because this mirrors how children learn in the natural world. Younger children learn by observing older peers, while older children deepen their understanding by mentoring, modeling, and leading. Over the three-year cycle, children move from observing to mastering skills, building confidence, independence, and a strong sense of community without comparison or pressure.

  • At Solstice Montessori, we understand that every child develops at their own pace. Readiness for our program is based on a holistic understanding of your child’s social, emotional, and developmental cues. During our enrollment process, our educators observe how your child engages with peers, navigates new environments, and responds to age-appropriate tasks and transitions.

Rather than focusing on academic benchmarks, we look for indicators of independence, curiosity, and a growing ability to participate in a community setting. These insights help us ensure your child will thrive in a Montessori classroom that emphasizes choice, responsibility, and self-directed learning.

  • Each day begins with a two-hour uninterrupted work cycle, giving children the time and space to concentrate, explore, and master skills. The day is balanced with outdoor play and movement, then returns to focused work again. This natural rhythm supports independence, focus, and joy in learning.
