FAQs

In Montessori education, children choose from a range of activities and work at their own pace, guided by a teacher who presents lessons individually or in small groups. Traditional classrooms typically involve whole-group instruction with everyone working on the same activity at the same time. Montessori emphasizes independence, hands-on learning, and respect for each child’s unique development.
-
Mixed-age classrooms are central to Montessori because they support a three-year learning cycle where children grow through distinct developmental stages in the same environment. Younger children learn by observing older peers, while older students gain confidence and leadership by mentoring. At any stage of maturity, children benefit from having classmates who share their academic interests, creating a dynamic environment for collaboration, inspiration, and growth.

At Solstice Montessori, we understand that every child develops at their own pace. Readiness for our program is based on a holistic understanding of your child’s social, emotional, and developmental cues. During our enrollment process, our educators observe how your child engages with peers, navigates new environments, and responds to age-appropriate tasks and transitions.
Rather than focusing on academic benchmarks, we look for indicators of independence, curiosity, and a growing ability to participate in a community setting. These insights help us ensure your child will thrive in a Montessori classroom that emphasizes choice, responsibility, and self-directed learning.
